The following hair mask tutorial will show you how to concoct a mixture that will aid in your oily hair woes.

The following ingredients can remedy oily hair.

• Yogurt – Natural yogurt provides proteins, which helps enrich and strengthen hair, while also washing away any grease build up.

• Baking Soda – Removes build up of an hair products used.

• Lemon Juice – Although mainly thought of as natural bleach for hair, it can also close up pores, reducing oil production.

• Apple Cider Vinegar – Asides from containing nutrients, which strengthen hair, it removes any hair product residue and balances scalp PH levels

Try the following oily hair treatment.

Oily Hair

Ingredients:

• 5 Tbsp natural yogurt

• 1Tbsp Baking soda

• 1Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Mix all ingredients together

Apply to already washed hair, concentrating on the roots.

Massage into scalp well.

Leave for 40 minutes

Rinse with water only.

It is important not to apply masks for oily hair too often, as stripping your hair and scalp of it’s natural oils will only set off alarm bells and your skin will start to over produce oil to compensate.

Although there are many products on the market to solve this problem, if they don’t seem to be having any effect, then try a remedy for repairing horses’ hooves. It may sound a bit drastic but as it’s loaded with lanolin it’s great for softening nails and the surrounding skin. You can also try any type of hand or face cream that has a lot of lanolin in its composition. Just rub a bit of cream on your fingernails before going to sleep at night and let it work its magic overnight.

Ingrown toenails

These can be really painful. If you notice that your toenail is starting to grow into your skin, take some dental floss and gently push it under the area where it’s growing into the skin. It will help to detach the nail from the skin so it can heal.

Yellow, discoloured nails

Keep your skin care simple. Find products that suit your skin type. Cleanse thoroughly, splash with cold water and then add a moisturiser. As long as this is done morning and night on a regular basis, this should be enough to keep your skin glowing. Of course always choose a moisturiser with a sunscreen for protection from those aging UV rays.

Treat the delicate skin around your eyes with care. If necessary use an eye cream or eye gel to add extra moisture and smooth any fine lines.

Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid eating sugar. Sugar is known to affect the collagen in your skin, so limit the amount of sweet and sugary foods you eat.

Massage your whole body with an organic oil such as sesame oil before you jump in the shower. The massaging motions will get your circulation going and loosen dead skin cells. The shower will wash away any excess oil so that you’re left with glowing, soft and smooth skin without an oily residue.

Exfoliate your hands once a week. Using body scrub, spread throughout hands and use movements as you would when washing. It helps to get rid of dead skin cells and any rough skin. Use a handcream with SPF daily.

Consider taking a fish oil supplement. Omega 3 has been shown to benefit skin, hair and joints so if you don’t eat lots of oily fish such as salmon and mackerel, try adding a supplement to your diet.

And finally drink plenty of plain water. It really does help to flush out toxins and keep your skin clear and your eyes bright.

First of all don’t panic. The spot probably looks far worse in your eyes than it is in reality. Believe me, I’ve been there and I know!

Although I wouldn’t normally advocate squeezing spots, if the spot has a head on it and looks ready to pop, then firstly wash both your hands and face with a medicated liquid soap especially formulated for spots. Then take a tissue and gently squeeze either side. Don’t apply too much pressure, you don’t want to bruise the surrounding skin or push the inflammation deeper into the pore. If there isn’t an obvious head, don’t try to squeeze it. You will just inflame the whole area and make it all the more obvious. I can’t emphasize that enough – resist the temptation to squeeze to hard, otherwise you’ll end up with a huge red inflamed spot that you really don’t want!

Once the pus has been removed, dab the spot with a topical spot cream and then leave it. Don’t touch it again. Keep your fingers away; resist the urge to keep feeling it. Before bed, apply another light layer.

The following morning, wash your face and apply more cream. Once again, keep your fingers off the spot; you’ll only irritate it more. Before your date, take time to use a concealer over the spot itself. Using your ring finger, gently dab concealer onto the spot, give it time to be absorbed and then carefully blend the edges into the skin, using very light pressure. Don’t rub too hard or you’ll rub the concealer off.

Then forget about it and concentrate on your date. Resist touching your face or drawing attention to your blemish. He’s probably not even noticed it and anyway he’s likely to be far too interested in you and what you have to say to be scrutinising your spots. Remember you’re amazing, no matter what your skin looks like!

A no-show foundation which works for your skin colour and type. The best and easiest way to find your perfect match is to consult a professional. A good foundation will make all the difference between natural, perfect looking skin and looking made up.

A super concealer – essential for hiding those dark circles, covering up the occasional blemish and any other small dark spots. Use a light hand to apply, the idea is to conceal not to totally cover.

A natural blusher. To keep a natural look, choose a matt shade which makes you appear as though you’re blushing. Whether you prefer cream or powder, the secret is to avoid shimmer and don’t go for dark shades, unless you have a dark skin.

A lash thickening mascara. Nothing opens your eyes up more than a good mascara. Even blondes can get away with black, but if you feel this is too heavy for daytime use, a brown-black shade is a good alternative. If your mascara has gone ‘clumpy’, then it’s time to buy a new one.

A perfect ‘nude’ lipstick. Once again your perfect shade will depend on your skin colour, but choose a light moisturising formula which will last longer than your first cup of coffee.

Once you have these basics in your make-up bag then you can begin to add a few more items such as eyeliner pencils, eyeshadows and a brow pencil to add a bit more definition to your eyes. And don’t forget that a good set of make-up brushes is always a good investment.

• Watch your posture, as poor posture can cause tension headaches. Get up from your desk and stretch at regular intervals.

• Apply a warm compress. Either use a towel soaked in warm water or a specially designed compress which you can heat in the microwave.

• Book a massage. Head and shoulder massages can relieve the tension in your neck and shoulders which can cause tension headaches.

• Women often get headaches prior to their period, usually directly behind the eyes. If you suffer in this way make sure that you eat foods which are rich in zinc such as lean meats.

• Hunger or skipping meals can cause headaches, so make sure that you eat regularly. Several small meals throughout the day are better than a huge meal late at night.

• Watch what you eat as some headaches are triggered by food, particularly migraines. If you think that food intolerances may be causing your headaches, seek advice from your doctor.

• Keep yourself well hydrated and drink lots of water. It also helps to cool down the body, so if you feel a headache coming on, drink a large glass of water.

• Whilst heat can be beneficial in treating headaches, sometimes ice is more helpful. Use an ice pack on the areas where you feel pain and tension, lie down and relax.

• Relax – the most common cause of headaches is stress, so make sure you get plenty of fresh air, exercise and sleep.

• Take some over the counter painkillers; there are many analgesics available. However if your headaches are regular and persistent, don’t just mask the pain with drugs; seek advice from your doctor.

Every once in a while, why not treat yourself to a hair mask. This will aid in restoring health and vitality to your hair and even lead to hair growth in some cases. Seeing as techniques such as bleaching, dying and streaking are not going away anytime soon, let’s target dry and damaged hair in this tutorial. Firstly it is important to know what ingredients are good and why so that you can go from frizz, to Blake Lively… Well almost.

• Avocado – Packed with Vitamin E, B and natural oils, providing a natural moisturiser.
• Banana – Improves hair elasticity, thus preventing those pesky split ends we are all familiar with.
• Eggs – Containing extremely high levels of protein, they strengthen hair and hair follicles.
• Olive Oil – Used throughout history for a it’s moisturising, nourishing and strengthening properties.

Try the following dry and damaged hair treatment.

You’ll need:

• ½ Avocado
• ½ Banana
• 1 Egg
• 2 Tablespoons of olive oil

Mix avocado and banana together until smooth. Add oil and egg and beat until creamy. You can use either an electric mixer or a hand whisk. Just ensure the consistency is smooth and creamy. After shampooing hair, apply mask to all over hair. If you have thin hair, avoid the root. Wrap in glad wrap or a shower cap and try to leave in from anywhere between 5 – 30 minutes. The longer the better! Now let’s heat things up. Either run some really hot water to create some steam and relax in the bath or apply direct heat with a hair dryer. This will allow the product to really penetrate your hair. Rinse well and condition.
